Apprenticeship Application Process

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must possess a VALID Driver’s License, Military ID, or State ID
  • Must be a high school graduate or have successfully completed a GED program
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties of the trade
  • Must pass a screening for the current use of illegal drugs on acceptance into the program
  • Applications will be available to anyone who is interested.

Application Process:

  • Applications are available for pick-up during business hours of 9:00am-11:30am & 1:30pm-4:00pm M-F at our Training Center
  • Training Center - 10967 Dean Browning Blvd, West Frankfort, IL 62896
  • Applications may be picked up by someone other than the applicant during the outlined times to allow those working, attending school, or out of town the opportunity to apply.

Required documents to return with completed application

  • CERTIFIED copy of high school transcript or GED scores
  • Copy of your VALID Driver’s License or identification issued by a state, or United States Military identification card
  • Copy of your DD-214 (if applicable)

Optional documents to submit with completed applications can be a resume, SEALED OFFICIAL college transcripts, copies of any certifications

Any and all correspondence from the UA Local 551 Plumbing and Pipefitting Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee regarding the apprenticeship application process will be mailed via USPS.
