UA Local 551 was originally chartered in Herrin, Illinois in October 12, 1911. We serve the following seven counties: Wayne, Jefferson, Hamilton, Franklin, Williamson, Saline and Gallatin. We’re your friends, your neighbors and we care about the towns we serve. That’s why we love our jobs, and we love our communities. Our members and signatory contractors have long history of providing service with integrity in the fields of piping, plumbing and HVACR services to many different types of facilities such as power plants, oil refineries, factories, hospitals, schools and residential homes. Our goal is to ensure the job is done right the first time, on budget, and on time.
The United Association has been training qualified pipe tradesman longer than anyone else in the industry. Local 551 Plumbers and Pipefitters are made up of some of the area’s most skilled tradesmen. Members of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 551 will be provided the best training programs available in the industry today, including a five- year apprenticeship program, extensive journeymen training, organized instructor training, and certification programs in the following core areas:

· Pipefitting
· Welding
· HVACR Service Technician
